The restaurant is run by Nano Wheedan who after spending ten years in Texas, returned home to Philadelphia to find it sorely lacking in the Texan delicacy. Seeking to fill the taco-shaped hole in his heart, Nano and his wife ran a small pop-up outside their home in Passyunk until they turned to CosciaMoos for help in expanding their humble pop-up into a full restaurant space.
Our design work consisted of a full restaurant fit-out including architectural and interior design work. The 1,427 SF restaurant is fitted into the first floor of a triangular shaped building where 7th Street and Passyunk Avenue cross, and includes space for both indoor and outdoor seating.
The interior material and color schemes evoke vibrant yet casual vibes with its hanging plants and tropical hues. Murals also feature prominently in the overall design, such as the rising sun and interior paint job by Austin artist Kevin Muñoz. Outside, local Philly artist Emily White’s exterior mural has nostalgic art which embodies the restaurant’s uplifting atmosphere. Hidden in the clouds is a Dutch door added to accommodate takeout orders and streetside ordering.
