The Shirt Corner Apartments is named after the 1970s era iconic building that once stood on this site. Originally envisioned as a restoration of the existing 8 buildings on the site, the structural integrity of the existing buildings was found to be inadequate, and the buildings were demolished to their foundations. The replacement building will match to the fullest extent possible the proportion, fenestration and materiality of the original building, minus the red, white and blue paint. Coscia Moos worked closely with the client and the Philadelphia Historic Commission to develop appropriate elevations in keeping with the historic character of the neighborhood.
The project includes 59 apartment units over 2 retail tenants on the ground floor.
