This 500,000 SF cancer research and treatment center was a collaboration of Hillier Architecture and Charles Correa. David Moos was the project manager for the US led team.
The US design team was responsible for all clinical and laboratory design, including a 19,000 SF BSL-2 level vivarium, all construction documents of the clinical and laboratory spaces plus all exterior detailing of the stone and glass-fin, cable suspended curtain wall system. Incorporating efforts across three continents and three languages, the construction documents for this world class research center were completed only 14 months after the start of schematic design. The US design team led all coordination of engineers and specialty consultants.
The Center was formally opened October 6, 2010, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Republic of Portugal.
